As some of you may well recall, Google were rumoured to be separating its shopping results after the £2.14bn fine they received in June from the EU.
European regulators claimed that Google was artificially and illegally promoting its own price comparison service in searches, denying rival firms the ability to compete on a level playing field.
This now means that third party price comparison and shopping websites can now display their product listings through the Google Shopping results.
Back in September we reported that all ads by Google will have to be displayed in such a way where you know you are clicking on an Ad from Google.
From there we have now noticed our first ad from a third party.
While our Head of Paid Search Rob Jackson was searching for a cot mobile for the upcoming birth of his son, he noticed that Kelkoo had a listing in the shopping results.
Kelkoo, like Google Shopping is an online shopping comparison platform aimed at giving its users the ability to view a wide range of products along with pricing, reviews and imagery.
With Kelkoo being the first company we have seen advertising through the shopping results on Google, it will be interesting to see who else starts appearing in the not too distant future.
This is just another example of how much of an ever changing platform Google AdWords is.
