Google will record a small number of calls initiated by call extensions or call-only ads.

The search engine has revealed that they will begin monitoring and recording a “small percentage” of phone calls from ads in hope of improving call quality for both users and advertisers.

When customers engage in a call from a call extension or call-only ad, they will be informed by a short message at the beginning of the call that their conversation may be recorded by Google for quality assurance purposes.

Advertisers are able to request ‘exemption’ from this and stop their calls from being monitored, but only if they cannot have calls recorded for legal reasons.
