Have you ever wondered what a typical day involves for one of the Business Development Executives here at Mabo? We caught up with Kelly to find out what she gets up to on a day-to-day basis!
1. Describe your role as Business Development Executive.
My role as Business Development Executive involves finding companies who run ads on Google, seeing if there are areas within the ads I can see which can be improved and then calling the companies to discuss the ads, find out about the company and how they think their ads are working for them and then showing them how we can help through a review of the ads. Once they have agreed to have a review I link up with their Ads account and book them in with a consultant to talk through how the campaigns can be improved. I am the first point of contact within Mabo for potential clients so it is important within my role that their experience with us is a great one from the very beginning.
2. Please talk us through a typical working day for you at Mabo.
Start at 8.30am with the first brew of the day
8.30-9am prepare for the day or revise for Google exams
9am-1pm Start with pre-arranged calls to potentially book reviews
1pm-2pm Well deserved lunch and watch endless games of ping pong!!!
2pm-5pm Completing pre-arranged calls and searching Google for new companies to call
3. What is the best thing about working at Mabo?
Mabo is the first agency I have worked for which puts the client first, I am proud to know that what I am saying on the phone to a potential client is exactly the service they will receive. We have a great team spirit and everyone does their best to help each other no matter which department we are in.
4. What is the most challenging part of your role?
Many companies I speak to have already had experience with other agencies and a lot of the time they haven’t been successful in helping the company with their PPC which means they don’t have the trust in using another agency. Once they have this opinion it is challenging to show them we are different, that we are an honest and trustworthy company!
5. If you could give one piece of advice for someone who is looking for a role in PPC what would it be?
Being in business development is a hard job with a lot of knock backs but if you can handle that, aren’t afraid to pick up the phone and are very self motivated then you will be successful!
6. What was your first job?
I worked in a factory testing telephones to make sure they worked (definitely moved up in the world!!!)
7. What book are you reading at the minute?
Between 2 children, 2 dogs and a cat I don’t get much time to read! I am still trying to finish reading The Wolf Of Wall Street which my boss bought me over a year ago!
8. What is your favourite quote?
“Expecting things to change without putting in any effort is like waiting for a ship at the airport” I’m not sure who wrote it but I love it!
9. Name the top 3 things on your bucket list.
To visit New York
To complete another skydive
To see Pink on tour!!!
10. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
To keep hold of my vision of where I want to be and do everything I can to get there
11. Who are your favourite band?
Of all time? Definitely Take That!! But currently it has to be Pink
12. Name your favourite movie.
The Green Mile
13. What did you want to be when you were little?
I wanted to be a Vet
14. What do you like to do for fun?
