Here at Mabo, we like to provide YOU with weekly updates on everything you need to know about the world of paid advertising. When we are looking for key information, there is nothing more annoying than figuring out the information you needed is on page 12 whilst you’re still skimming through page 2!! (Think back to your favorite book, when you were sneaking a look at the back page to find out the ending, thinking about it aren’t you?)

What can we do to make this easier for you?

Every Monday morning we will provide features and product updates across the main paid advertising platforms, Google Ads, Microsoft ads, and of course Facebook. YES, ONE!! Perfect reading on your way to work (not driving, off course) or whilst grabbing a coffee in Costa.

Google Advertising:
Google Ads is an online advertising platform developed by Google, where advertisers pay to display brief advertisements, service offerings, product listings, video content, and generate mobile application installs within the Google ad network to web users. So as you can imagine, it’s ever-changing & being updated regularly.

Google Advertising makes it easier to control shopping ads by country:
We all like ease don’t we? Well, Google have created a new attribute allowing you to exclude products at the country level.  The attribute of ‘shopping_ads_excluded_country’ allows you to keep some products from showing in certain countries your targeting. Giving you so much more flexibility.

Google Advertising creates more changes to match types:
Google Ads have announced they will now allow ads to be served for queries that it understands to share the same meaning on phrase match keywords. This may cause difficulties for those businesses that are limited by budget, but opportunities will also arise. Such as, revealing new keywords that were not previously targeted which actually convert. Meaning more conversions & more revenue! Winning.

Microsoft Advertising:
Microsoft Advertising is a popular platform that includes sponsored listings, or “ads,” for search engine results across the Microsoft Search Network. Commonly used for small businesses, that bid for ad placement in the results which appear when users search on the Microsoft Search Network.

Microsoft Advertising creates shopping campaigns in 7 more European countries:
Expand your campaigns to engage with shoppers online and boost traffic to your website within 7 more European countries of Europe, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. Think of all the extra sales opportunities!!

Facebook:
With one billion people worldwide using this platform for social reasons (you know yourself, sharing missing cats, etc). Many businesses use this to generate business, make contacts & of course promote their services.

Facebook Campaigns use augmented reality:
Facebook got feedback that campaigners & brands were struggling to connect people with worldwide issues, such as the environment. With this in mind, Facebook encouraged a range of campaigns to use augmented reality (AR) technology as a solution.AR isn’t just about understanding – it can bring people together, too. Can you use this within your campaigns?

Facebook update their Business Tools:
Facebook incorporates Joint Controller Addendum, which is used to clarify the responsibilities of Facebook Ireland and businesses subject to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Does your business use tools such as social plugins, SDKS, or pixel and are subject to GDPR? Yes? Then it is recommended to update your privacy policies where necessary to reflect this change.

Facebook launch new Global Data Processing Terms:
These will not only apply to advertisers subject to GDPR but also to other advertisers worldwide. These new terms will help those advertisers that, in accordance with their local laws, require a data processing agreement to use Facebook Business tools or customer list Custom Audiences.

All of the above Facebook changes will go into effect on 31 August 2020. So this is defiantly a date for YOUR diary.
